Jane O’Young, her companion Aislinn, and her girlfriend Gina Evelyn go on a date at Northampton. There they meet their guide, Kaia Marinwade, and enjoy the sights.
They head to a secluded lake to enjoy nature, but Kaia senses the presence of each-uisge (kelpie), and moves off on her own. She is rescued by a transformed Jane and Gina, but things become awkward.
At the inn, Gina suggests that they get to know Kaia better by having a party, and Jane agrees. During the party, Kaia reveals her secret and tries to dissuade them from helping, explaining the dangers. The girls decide to help Kaia anyway and the three become friends. Now with her uncertainty no longer an issue, Kaia is able to guide with great gusto.
The guardian of Northampton tells Kaia via her hairpin that Northampton is in danger from a deep-sea cult. Kaia tells them and fights the sea demons to save Northampton, a place dear to her heart.
With the defeat of the sea demons, the cult leader decides to push ahead with his plans. He steals the hair clip from Kaia and tries to sacrifice her. The four, including Aislinn, confront the cult in order to save the sea spirit they have befriended.
They retrieve the hair clip from the cult leader, and Jane uses it to transform and defeat him, but he succeeds in summoning the leviathan in the nick of time.
The leviathan devours the cult leader and tries to create a tsunami. The guardian protects the island, but the mere presence of the leviathan causes a storm, threatening to destroy the ley lines and the barrier.
While the guardian was able to stop and seal the leviathan, the three of them worked together to prevent the destruction of the barrier and the sinking of Northampton into the sea.
