A Withering Flower

Overview

Sumire Yanagi is enjoying her day off from a particularly rough week of work when an MFO lands nearby. It infects her and causes her to transform uncontrollably. Sensing unusual signals, Beauchêne staff arrive to pick her up and have her examined at their lab.

On the way, they’re pursued. Judging from their persistence and skill, they seem to be professionals. Then surprisingly, the pursuers suddenly back off, leaving her free to return to Beauchêne’s headquarters. However, when the lab staff run tests they don’t any information about her condition.

Sumire returns to her apartment to find people dressed in black suits waiting for her. They reveal they know everything about her, including her cyborgization, and offer to extract the MFO from her. Sensing that she’s outnumbered and unable to call for backup, she agrees to accompany them.

She is taken to the headquarters of the Department of Anomalies where she is surprised by the scale of their operations, understanding that she has no chance to resist them even with all the resources of Beauchêne.

Sumire is taken to an isolated room, and the process to extract the MFO begins. However, the MFO fights to stay in her body, causing her to transform wildly before eventually being successfully contained. Finally, they wipe Sumire’s memories.
