Meridiana is Mary Demore’s alter ego. She is a supporting character in Mary’s Eternal Companion.
Meridiana originally didn’t exist until an incident caused Mary to develop an aversion to feeding on people. Through repeatedly suppressing her hunger, her identity was split into two: Mary who feared hurting others and Meridiana who wanted Mary to survive.
Initially she tried to communicate with Mary many times, but being left starved for extended periods of time left her feral and unable to think straight. At times, she forcefully possessed Mary in order to feed and avoid starving.
She was able to experience the world through Mary and see that Ainsley Wintertide cared much for her. After Idonea Culpepper’s first potion forcefully brought her consciousness to the surface, she expressed her thanks to Ainsley before having a heart-to-heart talk with Mary about her fear of feeding and hurting people as well as her succubus ancestry.
Meridiana is who Mary could have been had she not developed an aversion to feeding. Understanding Mary’s situation, she does not try to wrest control from her but rather guide her to making good decisions. When she is starved, she prefers to control Mary’s body directly to feed.
She is appreciative of people who help Mary and tries to thank them when she can. Meridiana wants Mary to reestablish her bonds with her family so that she can reconnect with the broader succubus community.
