Magical creatures are creatures who are able to use magic. Unlike magicians, their bodies cannot produce mana on their own, so they seek out ways to replenish it. Common methods include eating, bonding with plants, and resting in mana-dense areas. Without mana, they will disappear.
Magical creatures like to make their habitats near mana-dense areas such as Onyx Cliff and Northampton. The quality of mana near those locations correlates with natural features such as volcanoes and forests.
The habitat of magical creatures influences the types of magic they can use. For example, below is a non-exhaustive list of habitats and their influences:
It is possible to tame magical creatures by feeding them with food infused with mana, allowing them to survive in any environment. If a creature repeatedly eats a particular magician’s mana, it will develop a taste for it.
When creatures are tamed, they become loyal and sensitive to its master’s feelings. They do not necessarily assist the magician with spells and enchantments, but they may do so as long as they are given reasonable rewards, such as food, mana, or gifts.
