Thanks to the megacorporations Beauchêne and Glamtec, cosmetics are an important part of everyday life. Made from materials from outer space, they are capable of incredible effects such as changing breast size, eye color, hair length, muscle mass. There are many types of cosmetics, each with their own special effects. To name a few: body lotion, hair cream, shampoo and conditioners, eyedrops, weight-loss and muscle growth supplements.

Due to the prevalence of cosmetics in this world, it is common for women to suddenly change their appearance from one day to the next. There are many families where mothers look different depending on whether they are in public or at home. Sometimes women even find that their clothes don’t fit at all because they mistake regular cosmetics for special cosmetics. Glamorous women are enjoying popularity in places like swimming pools, beaches, and bathhouses. The importance of cosmetics has lead to an increase in the number of public restrooms and powder rooms.

Many women eagerly covet and are even expected to use cosmetics, leading to a culture of subtle discrimination against those who do not. For example, pretty women will find less resistance to obtaining high visibility jobs such as newscasters. To head off any potential confusion, DNA identification exists in important institutions to recognize who exactly people appear to be.

Cosmetics are in such high demand that it’s common for scalpers to resell their products. These are often sold secondhand on online auction sites for at least twice the markup. In addition, these products are often accompanied by suspiciously cheap, fraudulent lookalikes from scammers that quickly lose effect when exposed to water or excessive sunlight.

This is part of the Beauchêne universe.
