Recapture

The deep sea cult attempts to kidnap Kaia as a sacrifice, using an item called the Thief’s Arm to attack her. Though protected by her comrades, her hair ornament, and the sea spirit living in it, is stolen.

Jane and the others pursued the traces of mana from the arm to the cave that serves as the cult’s headquarters. Upon entering a vast chamber, they find the cult leader and a dozen or so henchmen waiting for them. The cult leader explains that their original goal was to lure them in and wipe them out all at once. But the group is undeterred, and a fierce battle begins.

At first, Kaia and her companions struggle. But after a moment of carelessness that allowed Jane to seize the hair ornament, the tide turned, and the cult is quickly cornered.

Left with no options, the cult leader sacrificed his surviving followers to summon the leviathan. His joy at finally obtaining the means to achieve his goal of submerging the land beneath the deep sea was short-lived as he was devoured by the hungry sea dragon.
