Profile - Michel and Xavier Beauchêne

When scientists discovered a new material on a nearby asteroid belt with anti-aging properties, Michel Beauchêne seized the opportunity use it to develop a business to mine, process, and distribute a revolutionary line of skin creams that became beloved all over the globe. He named the business after his surname Beauchêne and used his money and influence to create Freeport, a free economic zone in the middle of the ocean where his company is headquartered.

Unfortunately, his brother Xavier grew jealous of this accomplishment. He secretly stole the formula and launched a rival business of his own called Glamtec. Although he could not afford to mine asteroids, he made use of his limited resources to cater his lower quality, yet cheaper products to the common people, gaining a success of his own.

With whispers of the brothers’ feud, corporate espionage, astroturfing campaigns that co-opted extremist groups to destroy each other, and even rumors of a new cult that emerged from a mysterious island spread far and wide, the relationship between the two is fraught with turmoil.

I initially named him Marshal, but renamed him to Michel when I realized Marshal didn’t fit with his French surname.
