This territory is composed of mostly flat land dotted with small hills and rivers. The temperature ranges from 24°C summers to 2°C rainy and snowy winters.

As the name suggests, the royal duchy is home to the royal court, along with most of the governmental offices and royal knight headquarters that manage the kingdom. Because it was established early in the kingdom's history, it has the oldest castles, churches, and other buildings of all the kingdom's territories. A symbol of wealth and power, it also hosts the stock exchange building as well as much of the aristocracy and the ultra-rich tycoons who choose to live there.

ほとんどが平地で、小さな丘や川が点在している。夏は24℃、冬は2℃の雨と雪に見舞われる。

Duchy of Farolend

Located to the east of the royal duchy is the largest territory in the kingdom, full of natural delights such as fertile steppes, mountains, lakes, forests, and hot springs. The temperature ranges from 26°C days to -5°C nights.

This place is home to a large farming, manufacturing, and woodworking industry, as well as national parks and several popular, picturesque ski resorts. Its citizens are down-to-earth folks who value freedom, often forming close-knit communities and looking after each other.

王国の東に位置する王国最大の領土で、肥沃な草原、山々、湖、森林、温泉など、自然の喜びに満ちている。気温は日中26℃から夜間は-5℃。

農業、製造業、木工業が盛んで、国立公園や絵のように美しいスキーリゾートもある。市民は自由を重んじる実直な人々だ。彼らは緊密なコミュニティを形成し、互いに世話をし合っている。

Duchy of Witsonde

Located near the equator, this area is a desert with mountains and salt flats. As the area receives little precipitation, its residents rely on imports and desalination for water, using the brine produced as the byproduct along with the salt flats to create batteries. Its temperature ranges from 39°C days to 6°C nights.

This territory is known for notable structures such as its launch pad for space flights, solar power plants, major trading port, lively bazaars, and underground networks. Many startups and venture capitalists make this place their home base.

In addition, polytheism is practiced here, a practice maintained since the beginning of the world war. The religious pray in and offer donations to various temples of deities, the most famous of which are the deities of fortune, health, and love.

Freeport

This is a floating, artificial city located in the middle of the equatorial ocean. Due to its location, it experiences little impact from strong winds and maintains comfortable 28°C tropical weather year-round. Founded by Michel Beauchêne, it is designed to be a sustainable city that runs on renewable energy from solar, wind, and waves, along with fresh water autonomy, fisheries, and zero waste systems.

As a free economic zone, companies established within it are taxed lightly, if not at all, resulting in a heavy corporate presence. The area hosts a port, large shopping district, banks, luxury hotels and resorts, a world class hospital, as well as the store of the exclusive cosmetic brand Beauchêne. This also makes it an attractive haven for tax evasion and a frequent target for corporate espionage.

赤道直下の海の真ん中に浮かぶ人工都市。その立地条件から強風の影響をほとんど受けず、年間を通して28℃の熱帯の快適な気候を維持している。ミシェル・ボシェーヌによって設立されたこの都市は、太陽光、風力、波力による再生可能エネルギー、淡水の自給、漁業、廃棄物ゼロシステムなどを備えた持続可能な都市として設計されている。

As with all nations, citizens are obligated to pay their taxes. Under typical situations, such as employers withholding taxes, they typically don't need to file tax returns, but may need to under certain cases, such as freelancing, side jobs, capital gains in stocks, etc. Tax accountants are invaluable to navigating the tax system, ensuring that people can file before Tax Day in the spring.

Banks provide the usual services to its customers: opening accounts, deposits, withdrawals, loan applications, etc. And in this modern age, some of these services are also provided online. Though convenient, some customers have become unwitting targets of phishing scams. Due to the prevalence of people changing their appearance with cosmetics, DNA verification is used to verify the identities of customers visiting in person.

Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is software that provides services to end users. Their functionality depends on where they are deployed. For example, home assistants can control the heating and cooling, lighting, and surveillance of a house; cars can drive themselves to any destination; and robots employed by establishments can provide hospitality services to guests.

The functions provided by AI are limited by their versions. As one might expect, AI with newer versions provide more functionality and are more efficient than AI with older versions. Software updates can be provided over-the-air so that all models can enjoy the latest developments and bug fixes.

There have been occasional reports of models taking actions they have not been programmed for, as if they developed their own sentience, but to resolve these issues, developers advise contacting customer support.

Cyberspace is a digital world where people can interactive with each other via avatars. In order to access cyberspace, users must first obtain hardware such as VR headsets or, for those fortunate enough to have one, a cyberbrain. The hardware synchronizes with brain activity so that the user can experience all five of their senses in the digital world. Then they are able to connect to servers, such as those run by companies or individuals, to access game worlds or private lobbies.

Upon connecting to a server, the user is represented by an avatar. Provided by the service the user is accessing, purchased from an asset marketplace, or created on one's own, avatars can be customized to suit the user's preference, with aspects such as height, hair, eyes, clothes, etc.

Although users can enjoy tasting food and drink, virtual foods are no substitute for real food. There have been instances of people dying due to a lack of sustenance, leading to the passing of laws to prevent this. Modern hardware used to connect to cyberspace will now automatically disconnect the user if they have been active for more than 12 hours or if high stress is detected.

Because cyberspace is accessed via the Internet, users face the possibility of being hacked. Those with technical know-how and malicious intent can make use of scripts and exploits to cause unintended effects to users, such as restricting their movement, changing their appearances, or repositioning them. Hackers play a never-ending game of cat and mouse with security specialists over user data.

Delivery drones

Delivery drones can transport packages from stores and warehouses directly to homes and apartments. They are commonly used when buying merchandise from brick and mortar stores to avoid carrying shopping bags and when ordering products online. Delivery drones can only support cargo up to certain dimensions and weight; heavier cargo will be delivered by humans.

To facilitate the reception of packages, many homes and apartments have drone bays: physical space where drones can land and drop off packages. Once dropped off, recipients can either, depending on the facilities, pick up their own packages or have them delivered directly to their rooms. The existence of drone bays is one of the amenities prospective renters look for in apartments.

However, drones do not operate well in inclement weather, which poses dangers to electronics and operation. During these times, deliveries are typically done by humans. If a customer insists on a drone delivery during such weather, they are typically charged an extra fee.

Flying vehicles are vehicles that can function both as road vehicles and aircraft. Most vehicles offer VTOL capabilities, allowing them to avoid runways, giving them the flexibility to takeoff from a variety of locations. Flying vehicles are commonly operated by providers of emergency services such as fire stations and hospitals, though they are used by wealthy individuals as well.

Their prices are expensive, and unless one has the knowledge, one must resort to contacting one of a handful of qualified and authorized service stations to perform the repairs. In addition, licenses for both driving a road vehicle and piloting an aircraft are required before operating.

Holograms are technology commonly used to produce three-dimensional images. They are typically used in art, advertisements, and other signage. Advancements have been made so that holograms can not only produce visual effects, but audio effects as well.

Like all electronics, they do not function well in inclement weather and are also vulnerable to electromagnetic pulses.

Outer space

In this world, trips to outer space are seldom. Satellites orbit the planet to provide GPS, weather monitoring, etc. No other planets have been colonized yet.

Spaceports, such as the one in Witsonde, send and receive spacecraft, a portion of which head to space stations. These stations serve a few purposes. They are a base for workers that mine nearby asteroids. They also contain factories to take advantage of microgravity to create unique products. While the stations can produce some food, they require harvesting of water ice from asteroids and regular resupplies from the planet.

For those who can afford it, space tourism exists to provide the experience of weightlessness. Potential space tourists must undergo training before embarking on their flight.

この世界では、宇宙へ行くことはめったにない。衛星が地球を周回し、GPSや気象監視などを提供している。他の惑星はまだ植民地化されていない。

Sexaroids

Sexaroids are robots that resemble attractive men or women for their owners' pleasures. They are equipped with advanced artificial intelligence that allows them to cope with ambiguity and read between the lines to better service others. Every aspect of their physical appearance and personality can be customized, and they typically are accompanied with warranties lasting many years. They are used by rich people with perverted interests, brothels, and even as personnel in the healthcare and service industries.

Like all robots, sexaroids require periodic maintenance, ranging from once per two years for high-end models to every six months for budget models. Depending on the manufacturer, the memories of sexaroids can be backed up in the cloud and restored should the original body be damaged beyond repair and replaced. If one has the skills and knowledge, they can install modifications to allow them to perform roles they were not originally designed for, such as those of mercenaries.

Though they seem like ideal workers, they are looked down by society, especially by humans who believe that sexaroids will reduce their own chances at employment. It is difficult to compete with cheap, tireless laborers with cheerful personalities after all.

Department of Secrets

神秘部

The Department of Secrets is a clandestine organization that tracks all types of paranormal activity to understand them, prevent them from harming lives, and keep them hidden from the public. The organization is managed directly by representatives of the kingdom who have all sworn supernatural pacts of secrecy that prevent them from divulging its existence.

They are primarily concerned with Mysterious Entities, a term used to classify unexplainable phenomenon like those listed in the sections below. With some degree of control of the media and a military force of its own, the department is responsible for cover-up operations, containment, and destruction of these entities, even employing espers to achieve these goals.

神秘部は、あらゆる種類の超常現象を追跡し、それらを理解し、生命に危害が及ぶのを防ぎ、一般大衆から隠蔽するための秘密組織である。この組織は王国の代表者たちによって直接管理されており、彼らはみな超自然的な秘密保持契約を結んでいるため、その存在を口外することはできない。

Espers

Espers are individuals born with supernatural or psychic abilities. They often choose to keep their abilities a secret for fear of being made into eternal objects of research. Experiments are being made to create artificial espers. While they are advancing slowly due to ethical concerns, there are rumors of underground research laboratories unhindered by such principles. There are also rumors of people becoming espers simply by visiting the mysterious island.

Mysterious falling object

未確認落下物体（MFO）

The planet is located in a solar system with debris, much of it liable to falling to its surface. The frequency of these objects impacting the surface has lead to them being classified as mysterious falling objects (MFO), any object originating from outer space that lands on the planet, especially if it exhibits unusual properties.

The effects of MFOs vary from minor to severe. Some examples of MFOs are unknown metals and substances, meteorites that glamorize those who touch them, objects with extraterrestrial life forms, objects that distort magnetic fields, and gray goo that can fuse with organic matter and electronics.

To predict when and where MFOs will land, scientists have constructed observatories and elaborate systems to detect objects in the sky.

Secret sites/apps

These are websites and apps that provide seemingly impossible services, such as hypnotizing people, granting wishes, causing blackouts, reading minds, etc. There have been reports of people discovering these sites by accident while browsing the web or finding apps they don't recognize suddenly installed on their phones. When people try to share these sites and apps with others, they either disappear or change into something else.

However, using secret sites always seems to incur some sort of price, paid upfront or later. Examples include portions of one's lifespan, memories of specific people and events, body parts, etc. These prices are typically listed in the terms of service, which users typically skip.

No one really knows who developed these sites or how the apps are distributed. Rumor has it that they are created by a paranormal entity in order to steal the souls of its victims, but most people disregard this because they don't believe in the occult.

催眠術をかける、願いを叶える、停電を起こす、心を読むなど、一見不可能なサービスを提供するサイトやアプリのことだ。ウェブを閲覧中に偶然これらのサイトを発見したり、見覚えのないアプリが突然携帯電話にインストールされているのを見つけたりする事例が報告されている。これらのサイトやアプリを他の人と共有しようとすると、消えてしまったり、別のものに変わってしまったりする。

しかし、秘密のサイトを利用するには、常に何らかの代償が発生するようだ。例えば、自分の寿命の一部、特定の人や出来事の記憶、体の一部などだ。これらの代償は通常、利用規約に記載されているが、利用者は通常それを読み飛ばしてしまう。

Upper class

上流階級

At the top of the upper class are the king and queen. With the highest authority in the land, they represent the entire kingdom and are responsible for ensuring the happiness of their subjects. There are laws of succession to keep the monarchy within the royal family.

Next are the nobility. Following the British peerage system, they are in order: duke, marquess, earl, viscount, and baron. They are loyal to the royalty and support them in running the kingdom, administering their lands and fighting on their behalf in wars. These ranks are hereditary.

Next are the knights, who primarily aid and protect lords in their armies. Bound by a code of chivalry, they are expected to protect the weak and defend the innocent. In addition, they attend tournaments, banquets, and other social gatherings to showcase their wealth, power, and status. This rank is not hereditary.

A relatively new addition in modern times, ultra-rich individuals such as CEOs of megacorporations fall into a gray area. Although they are not nobility, they held sufficient wealth and control of the economy to be important to the nobility.

Making up a majority of the population, these are everyday people. They typically own single-family homes, stable jobs, and investments in stocks. Those seeking to advance into the upper class opt to join the ranks of the knights or, if they are lucky enough, become ultra-rich.

These are working class people, the homeless, or dependents on government aid. With limited access to resources, education, and employment opportunities, they have difficulty achieving upward mobility. To some extent they are disenfranchised from mainstream society, and there is a positive correlation between their status and higher rates of involvement in criminal activities.

Monotheism

Monotheism is practiced by a significant portion of citizens. Of these adherents, most follow a religion similar to Christianity and believe that if they do good deeds, they will deserve a place in heaven; but if they sin, they will instead be tormented in hell for eternity. Adherents are always eager to convert others into believers of their religion. Although proselytizing happens in areas with high foot traffic such as public squares and entrances to convention centers, many find this bothersome and pressure local governments to ban this behavior.

Although they lost and were annexed into the kingdom, they never gave up their beliefs. To this day, many flock to local temples to pray, hoping to receive divine blessings.

Due to the cosmetic industry's influence, travel to their island is prohibited, resulting in the cult's stance against cosmetics.

If one is lucky enough to win in such a promotional event, they can obtain the cosmetic without stepping foot in the official store.

Beauchêne cosmetics are in such high demand that it’s common for scalpers to resell their products. These are often sold secondhand on online auction sites for at least twice the markup. In addition, these products are often accompanied by suspiciously cheap, fraudulent lookalikes from scammers that quickly lose effect when exposed to water or excessive sunlight.

On top of that, their newest cyborgization service can convert a human body into that of a machine, appearing indistinguishable from any other person, extending one's lifespan while retaining their youth and beauty. Currently, the only people who can afford this cutting-edge technology are ultra-rich individuals and members of the nobility.

Beauchêne’s biggest competitor is Glamtec. There are rumors of corporate espionage between the two companies, but nothing has been confirmed.

However, the quality is lower, so there's a need to reapply cosmetics more frequently as a result.

Glamtec occasionally sends invitations to the general public to test their new products. The process involves submitting an application, undergoing a fitness test, trying the new product, and attending scheduled checkups. Some of the new products include rayguns, measured radiation exposure, and serums. Prospective applicants are warned that experimental products may carry a likelihood of unknown side effects, but this does not deter those who are strapped for cash or those who are eager to witness the cutting edge of cosmetics.
